Hamilton Anniversary weekend – 18 & 19 September 2010

A wet gusty weekend awaited Eastern Bay of Plenty karters recently at Hamilton’s annual Anniversary weekend.

Wind gusts were so strong on Sunday competitors were forced to take down their gazebos and prepare the karts in the rain.

Eastern Bay of Plenty once again showed that our small club is going from strength to strength.  Winning the overall 120cc (Raket) class challenge.  Finishing 2nd Graham Knight, Keith Rawlinson 3rd, Wayne Sanders 6th, Richard Goodson 11th, Cliff Walsh 12th and Sue Sanders 13th.

Formula Junior saw Mitch Sanders finish 2nd.

In Cadets Taylor Harte struggled with carburetor problems and with two really strong finishes he just couldn’t place where he wanted eventually finishing 4th.  Following him was Reece Hendl-Cox in 8th, Joseph Terry 15th, and Hayden Knight 16th.

EBOP’s Kartzone Raceway is already preparing to host in March 2011 the biggest event in the club’s history.  The well known 4 round Top Half series see’s our local club host an event next year.  It’s a true credit on how hard the club is striving.

To be part of the series the club has to put in timing strips, and a technical inspection shed.  The necessary but not mandated club rooms will likely be a marquee.

We have been lucky in the Eastern Bay to have had the opportunity of being part of various motorsport events, so to see our local Kart Club being able to host this is fabulous.  This event generates hundreds of people into our community.

KartZone Raceway in Edgecumbe is making a name for itself and producing top rate drivers.

MG Tyres Press Release

MG Tyres NZ would like to confirm to the Karting public that the recommended starting pressure for the MG AZ Red tyre is 12 PSI, aiming to get the Tyre Pressures so that the tyre comes in at 15 PSI hot. Extensive testing has been done and this has shown to optimise both the performance and longevity of the tyre.

When mounting the tyres to rims, tyre lube is STRONGLY recommended as well as the use of a tyre ring and tyre cage when inflating the tyres onto the bead. Care should be taken not to over-inflate the tyres.
